1st attempt at 流沙包 failed, producing instead, 咸蛋黄包. I wanted to the filling to be savoury rather than sweet. So I made changes to the original recipe but rather than the flowing filling so desired, it turned out pretty viscous & failed to "flow". Oh well, I'll make a batch with the original recipe next time.
Salted egg yolk mixture. |
Refrigerate till firm enough to form balls & freeze. |
Make into buns. |
Erm... failed molten lava salted yolk bun. |
Maybe you can share the recipe and your changes to it. And hopefully i can help abit to modify :)
ReplyDeleteI got the recipe online. I think it calls for 3 salted yolks, some coconut milk, cornstarch, milk powder, icing sugar. I took out the icing sugar & milk powder (becoz I don't use it & there's no point buying when the recipe only requires a tbsp) & used 10 yolks. Lol.
ReplyDeleteBut hubs preferred the sweet version so think I'll just stick to the recipe for my next attempt.
i think u can replace coconut milk, mily powder with canned unsweeted carnation milk. and replace conrstarch with bit of cooked pumpkin or jap sweet potato as natural color and thickener.
